OUR ROAD TRIP

We left our condo Friday noon time and headed out on I-10. We drove non-stop for hours in two separate cars packed w/ things the mover couldn't take or left behind. We had a hand radio to communicate to each other on our drive. Kasten was ok because it was around his nap time and he sleep for most of the trip. We got into Arizona and ate dinner and rested for a couple of hours then started our drive for a few more hours. We stop to spend the night in Phoenix. Saturday we drove thru Arizona and New Mexico and got into Texas with a couple of stops along the way. We spent the night in Van Horn Texas then it took us almost the whole day to drive to Southern Texas. It's a big state. We accidentally got separated on the freeway. YJ make a sharp lane change at the last minute and I couldn't follow him. We ended up on separate freeways. But our radio range still work even though he was on the upper floor and I was on the lower ramp. He directed me to find I-10 going toward Houston and that he would pull over and wait. I must have got on the I-10 at a different freeway entrance because I didn't see his car pulled over the side. At this point the radio didn't work any more since we were out of range. I drove slowly going only around 60mile on a 70/75mile limit. Before we were going 85 sometime more. I figured he was behind me somewhere and sooner or later he'll realize it and drive to catch up. Kasten was asleep still. I needed to use the restroom too. Plus I wanted to program the GPS to take me to my cousin's house in Katy in case YJ doesn't show up. I've been driving for 30minutes now. I saw a sign that said "rest stop" coming up and the next one won't be for another 100+exits. I decided to pull into the rest area. It was a very nice place w/ a children playground and picnic table as well as a tourist building well air conditioned. I felt safe a bit since there was a family playing at the play ground. We use the restroom inside the building and was heading for the car. We passed by a man who was sitting on the hood of his car smiling at us. I buckled Kasten in even though he was cranky and wanted crying. I climbed into the driver seat and locked the door as I program the the GPS and I called my cousin to make sure the directions are accurate. The man waited till I put the phone down and started approaching my car gesturing he wanted to talk to me. But I declined and back out of the parking space and drove out to the entrance of the freeway. This is a more private rest stop it's not one where people can see you from the freeway. As I got out I heard my hubby's voice on the radio. Asking "Honey are you there?". I quickly responded and I could tell he was thrilled and relieved. He asked where I was and I let him know that I was in a rest stop area. At that momment he passed by my car and said "I see you." He slowed down to pull over and I drove out to follow him again. I was happy to see him since it's safer to have him around. We stop off to eat dinner then continue till we reach our destination at 9pm.
Kasten sleep well during the night in his our room in his crib that we brought w/ us. He actually sleep fine all night when we stop off at motels and he slept in a pack n play.
We went off to grandma Kim's house on Monday morning to spend time with grandma, grandpa, uncle Jason, aunt Young Mi the three cousins Jonathan,Megan and Gavin. Kasten loves playing w/ them since they are all around the same age. Grandma Kim is 4 hours drive away so we haven't been back to see them yet.
